Shawn Mitchell, founder and CEO of Modern Mechanical, brings a wealth of experience and drive to his relatively new company. Prior to starting Modern Mechanical, Shawn worked his way up the ranks to vice president at a large mechanical contractor in the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. areas.

Shawn added depth to his contracting experience with both civilian and military activities. As part of the Virginia Army National Guard, he deployed to Bosnia in 2001 with the 29^th Infantry Division as an Army Engineer and Non-Commissioned Officer, and later deployed to Iraq with the 2^nd Infantry Division. In this capacity, Shawn gained valuable leadership and project management experience that serves him well with Modern Mechanical.

Mitchell is actively involved in his community through charities and business organizations, including:

Mitchell lives in Broadlands, Virginia, with his wife, Ashley, and daughter, Bella. His military efforts have been well-recognized, winning both the Super Sapper Award and the 2004 Engineer Soldier of the Year from the 276^th Engineer Battalion from his deployment in Iraq.
